Whether we are sharing any post on Instagram or sending emojis on WhatsApp or liking picture on Facebook or commenting on videos on YouTube, all these time, we are dealing with the phenomenon of rate adaptation. In this paper, a detailed survey of different rate adaptation algorithms has been provided. A comparative study of existing RAA has also been conducted with an exploration of future research directions.
